PolyRemedy is a privately-held startup that manufactures a robotic system for the fabrication of nano- and micro-fiber wound treatments.
- Hands-on manager of a small group of software engineers and SQA to develop software for an innovative robotic medical device which manufactures custom wound dressings.
- Software included a WPF touch-screen client and a web application for remotely ordering dressings over the internet.
- Established an FDA-complaint SDLC and met critical milestones for customer beta trials and filing a 510(K).
- Implemented tools and processes for issue tracking, code reviews and source control.
- Utilized C#, WPF, ASP.NET, AJAX, SQL Server 2005 & 2008, CruiseControl.NET, SVN (Subversion).

Caliper Life Sciences is leading provider of microfludics and optical imaging. I initially joined Xenogen, which was acquired by Caliper in 2006. Xenogen developed a market-leading biophotonic technology that enables real-time, non-invasive exploration of genes, proteins, pathogens and tumor cells in living animals.
- Managed in-house software developers, SQA and off-shore resources to design and build cross-platform software for a commercially successful line of 2D and 3D optical imaging systems.
- Transitioned Living Image™ software from IGOR Pro to C++ and QT on the Windows and Mac OS X platforms. Reduced license fees and improved margins on Living Image.
- Drove initiative to implement software licensing. Licensing increased software revenue and allowed new initiatives with trial software.
- Implemented a crash-analysis solution to track application crashes both in-house and in the field. The solution allowed us to quickly resolve issues and notify users when an update was ready that would resolve problems.
- Utilized Microsoft Visual Studio, C++, QT, OpenGL, Perforce SCM, and Jira for issue tracking.

Ciphergen developed, manufactured and marketed the ProteinChip® system to enable protein characterization and biomarker discovery using mass spectrometry. In 2006, the company sold the life science business to Bio-Rad. In 2007, the firm changed its name to Vermillion, Inc.
- Joined Ciphergen as a software engineer and was promoted to software engineering manager and then director. Helped grow Ciphergen from an early-stage startup to a public offering and over $60 million in annual revenue.
- Recruited and managed a team of that grew to 18 software and SQA engineers. Established an ISO 9001-compliant software development process including configuration management and defect tracking.
- Led development of Ciphergen Express™, a powerful software suite for proteomics and biomarker discovery. Ciphergen Express was written in Java and utilized MySQL or Oracle for the back-end RDBMS.
- Utilized C++, Java, Swing, MySQL, DevTrack, Perforce SCM, Compuware QA Director.
